Hailed both by music critics and fans alike as a musician extraordinaire, Arthur Mountaniol is a progressive rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and filmmaker. Best-known for his diverse vocal styles, didgeridoo-like throat singing, virtuosic and innovative guitar work, visionary music, and unique music videos and short films.

 

Originally from Moscow, Russia, he is the founder of the legendary prog rock band The Moon Pierrot (1985-1992). The band is best known for their vinyl LP The Moon Pierrot 1, which was released on the major label Melodia in 1991. Influenced by King Crimson’s Discipline, the album has become a cult phenomenon in Russia.

 

In 1992, looking for a bigger success, Arthur immigrated to Germany. In a few years in Hamburg, he recorded his first English-language track, Criminal One, and was soon discovered by the US indie label Rodell Records.

 

In 1998, he moved to the USA and settled down in Hollywood, CA. The same year, he became a member of ASCAP and signed another record deal with J-Bird Records,  on which he released his first US solo EP, 5 Song Debut.

 

In 2000, in search of a new sound, he went extreme with his new “Shamanic Rock” project, on which he for the first time introduced his own throat singing. With this music, he broke onto LA’s local scene and shocked both the audiences and music critics. For his live shows, he has received many rave reviews from Music Connection Magazine that recognized his bold originality and brilliant performing skills. He’s been called a Martian, mad maestro, and even the Salvador Dalí of rock.

 

In 2001, this music was aired on KLOS 95.5, and LA Music Awards called his work the most original and brave in Los Angeles at the time.

 

In 2004, Mountaniol started his own label, The Moon Pierrot Republic, and released his first US LP, Shamania. Since then, he’s been busy producing and releasing an impressive number of albums and has been honored by ASCAP Awards eight times in a row.

 

In 2005, LA newspaper Rock City News nominated him for the best guitar player at the Rockies 2005.

 

In 2008, to extend his vision, he also became a successful filmmaker and has received many awards and nominations for his music videos and short films.

 

In 2018, the musician left Hollywood and returned to his hometown to play concerts for his Russian fans. He now lives in Moscow and sometimes in Hamburg but hopes one day to come back to Hollywood to make feature films.

 

Through a great many ups and downs, Arthur Mountaniol, still continues to make highly creative music and soon is going to release his new project entitled Made in Hollyweird.
