Liner Notes

“Passmore Drive Live” is Arthur Mountaniol’s rare live recording, never previously released. It was recorded in the summer of 2011 in North Hollywood, CA, at the house of prominent animator Andrei Svislotski (Klasky Csupo, Universal, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers). Andrei was also a close friend of Arthur’s, and had designed artwork for his albums “Shamania” and “Master of Ecstasy”.

However, speaking of “Passmore Drive Live” recording, it has been kept in the musician’s vaults forgotten for many years because, strangely, due to some unknown error, the rhythm section was captured in mono. At the time, Arthur was disappointed with it and put it aside. Recently, though, he rediscovered it and came up with an interesting sound design that helped enhance this recording a great deal. Luckily, he also was able to preserve a raw energy of a live performance.

As a result of that sonic transformation, it now sounds not exactly like a regular live album, but rather something like a hybrid of a live performance pumped up with dirty lo-fi soundscapes and trippy effects.

This album includes the songs from Mountaniol’s previous releases: “5 Song Debut”, “Shamania” and “Master of Ecstasy”. They are presented here as alternative versions, which he had performed in Los Angeles during 2011.
